Below are some additional tips and guidance into creating a sacred altar. Please see my previous post for more information.
Where to Place Your Altar
I don’t own my own home yet, so my altar has to be in my bedroom. Many of you may be in a similar situation. You can place it on a dresser or have a special table for it. Feel into how high up it should be off the ground and how you can dedicate a sacred space for it.
If you have your altar in your bedroom, be aware of how the energy of the objects may affect others.
If you have a partner, be sure that they either have their own altar or that they are strong to yours. If you’re single or dating, be very aware of the energies that emanate from your altar.
I remember one time my mom had to sleep in my bedroom while I was away for the weekend. She couldn’t.
She said the energies of the objects, artwork, and crystals were just too intense.
She actually got a terrible migraine from spending more than twenty minutes in my bedroom. That’s because she wasn’t attuned to the high frequencies of the objects I have on my altar. So be very careful when it comes to building your altar, and of course who you invite into your bedroom!
Certain corners of the house and room represent different aspects of your life in feng shui. Meditate, pray, and intuitively check in on where your altar should be. If you get a hit for a specific direction, feel free to do some research and check in on why. See what comes up for you. There are messages there that you may be ready to receive.
Keep Your Altar Space Sacred
This is a special area. Don’t place other items on it that don’t belong there. Be aware of the space and keep it clean, both physically and energetically. If you’re going to have an altar, your toenail clippers should not be next to Buddha.
In addition, pay attention to other messages you receive as well. For instance, you may be guided to refrain from wearing shoes while standing near your altar. Or you may be guided to refrain from having any electronics near it.
All messages are personal for you, so honor and cherish them.
Charge Items On Your Altar
You can charge grounding rocks, gemstones, crystals, tinctures, teas, and sacred artwork.
The energies of the world are constantly shifting, changing, upgrading, and improving. You want the energies of your sacred objects and tools to shift upwards as well.
By placing them on your altar, they will receive the incoming appropriate energies and attunements to keep you strong, clear, centered, stable, and balanced.
Clear Items With Your Altar
There have been a few items I’ve owned that wouldn’t get cleared using the traditional methods of smudging and clearing. When this happened, I was called to place the object on my altar and ask that Archangel Michael of Light clear it.
Be Open to Change
My altar changes a few times a year. This is because I’m growing as a person as well as growing on my spiritual path. Take time when it feels right to check in on what objects and items you may have outgrown. These objects may feel heavy or have a different energy from before. This often means they need to be placed elsewhere, temporarily or permanently.
Do you necessarily need an altar? Of course not!
You are a Child of Light. That means God’s love and light is always with you. It came here with you, it’s here with you now, and you carry it with you always.
But as human beings on this earth plane, it can often feel challenging to remember our Light. Things like a tough day at work and terrible rush hour traffic can make you feel, say, and do things that don’t serve you. It’s a natural experience on this earth.
So it’s helpful to have a clear, sacred space to return to and be reminded of your true home, your true mission, and the REAL you.
It’s a space to remind yourself of the Love and Light within you and around you, from God and for God.
Unconditional Love and Light,
Lauren
