Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine

The other day, my three year old son said, “Mommy, you’re so handsome!”

That filled my heart with joy! And then for a moment, I thought to myself, Should I correct him? Women are supposed to be called pretty, not handsome, right?

But this beautiful, amazing being of Light just gave me the best compliment I ever received. It came straight from his heart. It was a meaningful moment in him expressing himself fully, lovingly, and authentically.

So instead, I smiled, kissed him on the forehead and said, “Thank you, baby. And you are beautiful.”

When I was pregnant with my son, I knew from day one that he was going to be a boy. I felt it energetically in him. But sharing that with a healer friend of mine, she said that with her boys, that energy flowed back and forth between feminine and masculine the whole time before ending up with two sons at birth.

This makes sense.

The Divine Masculine and the Divine Feminine should be equally balanced in all of us. And being able to tap into those Divine aspects of ourselves greatly reduces the trauma, karma, drama, misperceptions, and misinterpretations that have permeated this earth for far too long.

“Manly” and “girly” are earthly understandings and actions, with definitions we all know far too well. But Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine are equal, strong, sovereign, and filled with unconditional love.

When my son was younger, I bought him a pink lawn chair, purely because there were no other colors in the store. He loves it. I also let him play with my dolls and my old dollhouse. Most times, he is the wildest, loudest, strongest little warrior you can imagine, running through the house, pillaging his Lego block towers, creating swords out of paper towel rolls, and wreaking havoc until it looks like a toddler tornado went through our living room.

He loves his trucks and trains, getting dirty in the sandbox, and doing all things “manly.” At the same time, he puts his teddy bears in bed, tucks them in, sings to them, prays with them, and gives them kisses exactly like I do for him. My father saw this one night and said, “Aww, you’re a good big brother to your bears!” And my son said firmly, “No. I’m a mommy,” and he proceeded to tell his baby bears in a gentle voice, “Mommy loves you.”

Am I concerned about any of this? Nope. All of this is in Divine alignment. He swings fiercely between masculine and feminine, and all of that is good. What matters is that these swings are in the Divine Masculine and in the Divine Feminine. I don’t want him embracing the earthly masculine, where hitting, spitting, being angry, never crying, and not admitting how you feel live. I also don’t want him embracing the earthly feminine, where being weak, being quiet, being subservient, and being fearful live. None of these serve anyone or anything. These earthly patterns need to go.

So how do you teach your child what Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine truly is? You embody it. You be it.

As someone who’s been through trauma and is doing their work, I can honestly tell you that I know and embrace the Divine Feminine. But I’ve realized lately that I haven’t had much experience with the Divine Masculine. Unfortunately, most of the world hasn’t.

I remember the first time I hung out with a male healer friend, I burst out crying for seemingly no reason at all. I felt so embarrassed. And afterwards, I asked a female healer friend what that was all about. She smiled sweetly and said, “You’ve never had that experience before. You had never known what it felt like to be safe and be in the presence of the Divine Masculine. That was a big healing for you, even if it felt embarrassing.”

When people are working and living in their Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine, it serves all. It clears things that no longer belong to us. It unearths things we forgot after embodying in this lifetime. It sets us free to live and love joyfully, wholly, fully, deeply, and completely. That is what living in Divine alignment truly is. That is where we need to be.

And sometimes, it takes our children to guide us there. Sometimes, they are the ones that truly know how to be.

Unconditional Love and Light,

Lauren
